FAQs

  • What is Pilates?

Pilates is an exercise method developed by Joseph and Clara Pilates that focuses on breath, controlled movements and strengthening and lengthening the trunk, arm, and leg muscles. Pilates can be broken down into two categories: Classical Pilates and Contemporary Pilates.

CORESELF+ employs Contemporary Pilates principles, meaning that our practice is based on the work of Mr. Pilates but incorporates modernised physical therapy and biomechanics that allows us to engage in additional movements and variations.

  • Do I need to have experience in Pilates?

No, you just need to have an open mindset and a desire to be intentional throughout each movement, exercise, and class. Pilates will meet you where you are.

  • Are all classes virtual?

Yes! All classes are virtual because #pandemic. If you live in the NYC area, be on the lookout for private and group in-person sessions.

  • I can’t believe your classes are free! Is there anyway I can help with/contribute to your business?

Thank you, thank you!! If you enjoyed the class(es), we would love it if you tell a friend and/or tag us on any one of our social media handles.

We are always seeking creative partnerships and financial support so that we can reach the highest state of CORESELF+. To get in touch, please CONTACT US.

  • What if I have an injury or pains/discomfort before or during class?

If you recently had any sort of surgery, medical condition, or procedure that could effect exercise or movement, please let us know ASAP.

If you are pregnant and in your second or third trimester, please let us know ASAP.

Please also let us know if you have any chronic injuries or pains before or during class, so we can provide modifications where appropriate.

THAT SAID, you are the champion and keeper of your body. While some exercises may be difficult, if you are ever experiencing pain or fatigue, we invite you to take a moment or a break, then jump back in when you are ready.
